Dave Newcastle, NSW, Australia
I'm a 36 year old bassist looking to join (maybe form) an original indie/ alternative/art-rock band to contribute towards writing and recording an album and eventually touring.
I’m want to join a band that isn’t limited to just one genre but explores lots of different musical styles and has a wide variety of influences. Ideally I’d like to be in a band that has a good, solid 90’s-00’s alternative/grunge sound (i.e. Including but NOT limited to: The Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, Faith No More, Stone Temple Pilots, Muse, Foo Fighters, Audioslave, Garbage, Primus, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Load-era Metallica, etc.) but also has some occasional elements of funk, industrial, electronica, synth pop and just a touch of metal and a tiny smidgen of blues.
In a nutshell, I want to record the next Mellon Collie and The Infinite Sadness. :)
I have over 20 years’ experience playing many different kinds of basses and my main influences include Flea, Les Claypool, Jason Newsted, John Deacon, Billy Sheehan, Jeff Ament and way too many others to list.
I have my own transport and live in the West End, have all evenings free for rehearsals and all weekends free for gigging. I don’t drink or do drugs, lean politically centre/left, am an Atheist and am 'heterosexually challenged'.
Apologies in advance, but my heavy metal days are behind me and so I won’t be interested in anything prefaced with 'death / black / satanic / stoner / thrash / speed / core-this / core-that / math or prog'. Sorry guys, but I’d rather play bass for Modest Mouse than Meshuggah. :D
Please also note that I want to join a BAND, I am not interested in being a solo artists' session bass player.
Please only contact me if you have recorded material available online to watch/listen to, as I do not do blind auditions and please only contact me if you have actual musical talent with quite a few years' of live experience behind you and realistic aspirations regarding 'making it'.
