Tim Smith Long Lake, NY, USA
Back in the Sixties I might have been the premier Pete Seeger interpreter within about a fifteen mile radius of Potsdam, NY. Had an Ode long-neck and played with a bunch of good musicians around St. Lawrence U. We did the coffee-houses, marches, hoots and I knew hundreds of songs picked up from Pete, Burl Ives, Sandburg, and then Dylan. Now pretty old, 84, I have switched to a fine clawhammer banjo and am playing more than ever, every day, for myself alone, learning new tunes by tablature. I'm getting where, if there's a band around here looking for some clawhammer banjo sound, I think I could pick up any tunes the band would like me to learn, and we could give it a try.
